Sanatana Dharma Vidyarthi Sangam
Swami Agamananda is famous as a spiritual revolutionary and orator. His real name was 'Krishnan Nambiathiri'. Born into the Namboodiri community, he was always troubled by the caste system and injustices in Hinduism. He formed the 'Sanatana Vidyarthi Sangam' during his high school studies in Mavelikkara (1915). Chattambi Swami and his disciple Neelakanta Tirthapadar were his guides in life. After taking up sannyas in 1928, he became known as Swami Agamananda. In 1936, he established the Sri Ramakrishna Ashram in Kalady. Later, he also started the Brahmanandodayam Sanskrit Vidyalaya. In 1950, he established a college in Kalady. Swami, who wrote books like Vivekananda Sandesham and Sri Shankara Bhagavad Gita Vyakhyanam, started magazines like Prabuddha Keralam and Amritavani. Swami Agamananda passed away in 1961.
