Islam Dharma Paripalana Sangham

Vakkom Abdul Khader Moulavi was a great figure who fought against the degeneration of the Muslim community by destroying the conservative forces that stood against social change and rationalism among the Muslims of Kerala. Islam Dharma Paripalana Sangham is an organization that he started on the model of SNDP. The organization was established in 1918 at Nilakkamukku in Vakkom Panchayat. Vakkom Moulavi, who had close ties with Sahodharan Ayyappan and Sree Narayana Guru, also maintained close ties with the national movement. The organizations he started for the renewal and unity of the Muslim community were Akhila Travancore Muslim Mahajana Sabha, Aikya Muslim Sangham, Muslim Samajam (Chirayinkeezhu), Dharmaposhini Sabha etc.

Aikya Muslim Sangham

With the blessings of Vakkom Abdul Khader Moulavi during 1922-23, the Aikya Muslim Sangham came into existence with its headquarters at Kodungalur. Its prominent leaders were Sheikh Hamdani Thangal, Manappatt Kunjumuhammed, Seethimuhammed, K.M. Maulavi, K.M. Seethisahib and M.C.C. Abdur Rahman. Vakkom Moulavi presided over the first meeting of the Sangham. The Aikya Sangham continued its activities by fighting against the immoralities of the Muslim community. The Sangham established educational institutions and published pamphlets.
